Current Series

Hey Guys, I'm really excited about our current sermon series.  I've been looking forward to preaching these messages for a long time.  Do you ever feel like worship has been made into something it isn't?  Do you sometimes wonder if people refuse to change the way they worship just to be stubborn?  Do you sometimes feel like people want change in worship just for the sake of change?  Well, over these next few weeks we are going to take a serious look at what it really means to worship.  The series is called iWorship.  Check it out.

Sunday, April 19

This week I'm going to be talking about authentic worship.  Psalm 63:1-8 is an awesome example of what authentic worship is.  In this text I see two things inside of an authentic worshipper that produce two things outside of an authentic worshipper.  Come be a part of it.  We start at 9:00.

By the way, here's what authentic worship is not.  I'm thinking about playing this video on Sunday and telling the church that this is the guy we're talking to about being our next worship pastor.  On second thought I probably won't.  I value my life too much.  Let me give you fair warning - if you are drinking something it could come back out through your nose.  Don't say you weren't warned.

This week I'm talking about the object of worship. The message is called "iWorship God" and it is taken from Exodus 3:1-6. Sometimes I'm afraid that we miss the point of what we're supposed to be doing in worship. We get distracted by the style, the personalities involved in leadership, or our own preconceived idea of what worship ought to look like and we totally lose sight of who it is we are supposed to be worshipping. If God is going to be the object of our worship, there are three realities that must come into play for us:

1. Worship is not about what I desire - it is about what God desires
2. Worship is not about what pleases me - it is about what pleases God
3. Worship is not intended for my benefit - it is intended for God’s glory

Here's a cool video clip that I posted on the blog a few weeks ago that vividly describes our King. See you Sunday morning for a great time of worship.
